The images under show an incredible number of ladies, ranging in weight, height, race and proportion.
What they all have in common is that they're professional athletes at their physical peak.
The photographs, taken by photographer Howard Schatz for his 2002 book, Athlete , not too long ago resurfaced, reminding us of the variety of girls's our bodies.
Schatz interviewed and photographed a whole bunch of athletes for the e-book, a venture he says was inspired by his curiosity in human variation and the musculoskeletal system. "I used to be also fascinated about passion," he told the Huffington Post in a telephone interview. "I used to be curious about what received them to do that. As a result of to become a champion, it's important to put away so many issues in life."
Throughout his interviews, Schatz noted very little distinction between how the female and male athletes approached their sport. "I discovered that the ladies in the challenge have been simply athletes," he instructed HuffPost. "Their commitment, their focus in life, their objectives for profitable and championship weren't completely different from the boys's. There wasn't a female focus, a feminine ambition."

The one gender difference apparent to Schatz was how the athletes approached the issue of getting kids. A number of the women talked about that they might postpone having children until they had been past their physical prime. "Males didn't really need to delay having households, and having a household did not seem to intervene with their pursuits," Schatz said.
All through the challenge, Schatz says he remained in awe of his topics. He advised HuffPost: "Focus, dedication, competitors and pursuit of a aim wouldn't have a gender."
Howard Schatz's most up-to-date ebook, Caught In The Act , options portraits of actors together with Hugh Laurie, Whoopi Goldberg and Amy Poehler.
