We have all watched in shock the news stories of the tragedy in Arizona, and this causes us once again to dig deep into our souls to seek for which means. Why would someone do that?
Let me start by saying that I am not a psychologist. But, like most of you, I've lived and browse and think I have a reasonably good grasp on why individuals do the things they do. Sometimes, habits is rational and could be defined by primary motives. But, there are those random instances where conduct is so weird it leads to a poignant question of why? The Arizona taking pictures is a kind of.
Here's what we know. The perpetrator is a 22 yr old who posted quite a few rants on his Myspace and Fb pages, and noted therein that his favorite books were Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto. I guess it's truthful to say that nut cases prefer to read each other's works! He talked about government thoughts management utilizing grammar. Ok, I believe most of us dwelling within the normal world would say he's a little bit off kilter.
I do assume we are able to say his actions weren't purely politically motivated in that he wasn't looking to affect a real political consequence. This is different than say the motives of a political assassin who fairly rationally engages in an act to change political insurance policies. No, all the evidence that's been launched signifies that this individual lived in his own little paranoid world, and whereas he rants about the thoughts control of governments, his favourite books are these regarding the most authorities? Clearly, a mind in confusion.
To say that his actions had been motivated by at present's heated political atmosphere, as finished by the local Sheriff, is I believe not correct. We have had nutcases earlier than. Do we not recall the assassinations of Abraham Lincoln, of William McKinley, of John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and the attempts on Ronald Regan, Gerald Ford, and the threats towards so many political leaders? No, this isn't new. Whether or not it's John Hinckly, Jr. considering he'll win Jodi Foster's heart, or this nut case who needs his day within the spotlight, they at all times have been, and at all times might be with us.
But on our emotional path, we have to keep on the straight and narrow and not give in to the fear and anger that this sort of habits elicits. We need to calmly preserve it in perspective, not to belittle the tragedy at all, in no way, but to ensure that we make selections based mostly on a broader perspective, not primarily based on the anger or concern we really feel as the results of a madman's actions. Otherwise, he does win!
And our elected officers need to do the same, and I respect their problem right here. How simple it might be for all Senators and Representatives to ask for an efficient lock down on their lives just like the President is pressured to do. But this might threaten the very nature of our nation and so isolate the political class that there could be no connection to the folks they supposedly characterize. And this might be a real tragedy. Thus, the challenge for them is substantial - I imply, if I had been one of them, I would be thinking of my household and the fear can be actual. So, the Emotional journey of our elected representatives has clearly been highway-blocked and they are referred to as upon to show great knowledge, and braveness in this time as they reset their emotional journeys to one that's clear, and free of concern, uncertainty and doubt. There's enough of that going round with out actions like this impacting us.
