Good Information & Bizarre Information
The good news is that the third book in my Soiled Business mystery series, Dead Head (Minotaur Books) might be launched next week. The bizarre news is the story of a Virginia man who bought a guinea pig in a pet store after which went home and made a hat out of it - which he wore round town till someone known as the cops and he was arrested for animal cruelty.
Most writers have an thought file. Mine is crammed with newspaper clippings and the printed variations of on-line stories like the one about Guinea Pig Man - though he could also be too strange to make use of. Who'd consider it? GPM sounds like a character from a Carl Hiaasen novel. If anybody else had written him, I'd have said the writer was making an attempt too hard to be quirky.
Bizarre information story quantity two issues two would-be financial institution robbers who referred to as the financial institution they were planning to rob to elucidate simply how they'd just like the payments packaged. After they arrived, they have been genuinely shocked to see the cops waiting for them. These braintrusts have been from my home state of Connecticut. I am unsure my editor would let me write characters that dumb. (Perhaps by guide number nine in the collection…)
Lifeless Head had its origins in a information story too. Not as bizarre as these, however one that was even more fascinating. About two years ago an higher middle class suburban lady was arrested when it was found that she was a fugitive from the legislation who'd been living a lie for many years. None of her neighbors or members of the family actually knew who she was and may never have recognized if somebody hadn't knowledgeable. I was mesmerized by the notion of strolling away from one life and beginning one other - and with over 100,000 missing individuals within the US at any given time, it in all probability happens greater than we expect. And it had me asking myself - how nicely do we really know our neighbors?
Regardless of the details of that real case, I was off and working with my story which has amateur sleuth Paula Holliday employed by the girl's household to seek out out who dropped the dime and why.
Who knows, perhaps in two years I'll be launching a e-book known as Guinea Pig Man. What have you seen in the paper these days that is made it into your thought file?

We had a number of bank robberies in my city last summer season, and, whereas the cops have been investigating, a savvy reporter identified a pile of garments close by. Apparently the robber decided to alter (??) and left his pants and cellular phone at the scene of the crime. Needless to say he was caught quickly after.
