With out spam, there can be no such factor as a humorous remark. My favorite spam i ever saw are
"i sit in the corner of the room pretending to be a radish" and "is it improper this gave me a boner" and finally "it is over 9000!!!!!!!!!"

Ugh, yes I've acquired many of these. Love the totally off topic ones and the "incomprehesible, agrammatical, kinda, sorta English" ones. Currently my most frequent ones come from a selected cellphone maker that posts as if they are providing a constructive customer review for stated mobile phone. But to the tune of about ninety% of my whole visitors to a given page. They swear it is just honest testimonials...uh, do not think so. Some of the pages they post on are so far down in searches, these clients would needed to have spent hours discovering the page.

@Lee Hansen: I agree, those 1-star ratings had been a bad thing. I like the way in which that issues are going. I do the identical as you and manually approve every part. Happily I am managing to maintain up to the mark these days.

Hey, Tony, Spm ain't simply Ham in a can? JK. I've all comments on lenses, blogs, websites shielded by type inputs and manual approvals. It takes more time, but I do not need to have that junk on my pages. In addition to, I'd miss out on all the entertainment if they were set to submit routinely. Humorous and useful lens. I also use WOT and advocate it highly. I additionally verify that spmmers aren't in there posting bogus negatives on my creative content material pages. Oh, and I am so glad those 1 -star ratings went by the wayside for Squidoo ages ago, aren't you?

I'm actually amazed on how many individuals are leaving BS comments. I have presently not received any Spam comments however give it time.
Is their certain articles that get spammed extra then others. How about the articles with the most views?

You may have fairly a set! I have a WP weblog I have never posted on in most likely a year, however each single day I get spam feedback. I don't even take a look at them anymore. I know there's gotta be a way to just disable feedback, but I couldn't discover that option.

Hi! i'm glad you will have this down the earth strategy. Yes spamming is a part of our cyber culture at this point, it has so many kinds and variations... but all of us already have the nostril to make a distinction between what's spam and what's not.
The way in which I battle for spammers is easy:
1) on all my blogs as a result of they're designed with Wordpress on my domain... AKISMET is doing an awesome job, I actually don't want more, but I at all times take care of what I put in me settings.
2) On Squidoo, someday I approve messages, sometime I don't nut I take the liberty to delete them
three) and I always laught

This is why I lastly disabled commenting altogether on all my WP blogs - and removed all but two although I could also be putting a few again up. Maybe it's worth it for the laughs! Thanks for the giggles and have a pleasant Squid Angel blessing.

@LoKackl: I perhaps should make clear that these spam comments are all from my weblog, not my lenses, and I leave all of them as spam, so they don't actually appear on the blog. The non-complimentary ones are far and few between, and the ones listed right here were left by spammers.
On my lenses I ALL THE TIME strip out html in feedback. It doesn't cease someone from leaving an tackle, but there is no such thing as a need for them to leave html code in the body of a remark ever.
Sometimes individuals have bother leaving comments on a lens guestbook, and then they present up twice. I only enable one among them, and drop the other, because you do not need 2 feedback the same.
Hope that clarifies issues a bit.

Do you allow up the ones that are complimentary BUT repeated/copied in a gazillion of your different lenses? I started "stripping out html" on comments to limit spam, however I hate having to forestall good lensmasters from linking in that method if they need.

Great Lens!...I hate the SPAM, and also the spam messages through Squidoo by asking stupid questions, the primary time I answered considering it was a teenager...not after that when I acquired more stupid questions, none related to the lenses.

A few of these look very acquainted, Tony, with just a number of the wording changed. What's great with Wordpress is that you can go in and alter the remark and edit the hyperlinks, so you'll be able to point them wherever you like LOL!

@KarenHC: And I broke the "unbreakable rule" when I mentioned I hardly ever get spam comments on my Squidoo lenses - just acquired one. Not significantly humorous, or I would share it here :-zero However it didn't really fit the topic of my lens - it was quite a stretch for him to attempt to make the remark match the lens subject.

That is such an incredible idea, and creative, to share all these insane comments. I've a bunch of blogs and other websites that allow comments, and though spam is annoying, it typically makes me snigger too, especially when it's so awkwardly blatant.

@joanhall: I suppose it have to be worthwhile still, and the issue is that for each website that will get blacklisted, one other 10 seem. A few of these folks have a whole bunch and tons of of domains, and lots of are based in China. Heaps have dangerous reputations, sell fake items, or the cash is taken and no items ever arrive.

The opposite factor that I've gotten a lot of is spam trackbacks. I suppose they assume I'll feel flattered because they linked to me from their spammy blog?

This gave me a very good snigger this morning :-) I rarely get spam feedback on my Squidoo lenses, however certainly one of my blogs used to get weird feedback until I disabled the commenting characteristic.
